How to knit a 'simplE' square

Knit on the diagonal, there are no abbreviations to learn, no real skills needed, just the ability to cast on and 'knit' a stitch.

Cast on two stitches.  Knit into the front and back of the first stitch only in every row until the required number of stitches are reached according to the pattern you are making.

When you have reached the correct number of stitches, start to decrease by knitting the first stitch of each row followed by knitting the next two stitches together until two stiches remain.

Loop one stitch over the top of the other OR simply knit the last two stiches together.  Break of the yarn and thread the end through the remaining stitch and pull tight to bind off.

Gently stretch the finished square into an even square shape, and there you have it, your first completed square!

Simply repeat the process until you have the number of squares the pattern requires- how simple is that?
